We announce the GVN-HC-TX220AP, a new transmitter in the Gemini GVN 1G AV-over-IP family that introduces full-featured USB-C for professional 1Gb AV-over-IP deployments. Built for USB-C-first collaboration spaces, it helps organisations deliver a cleaner, more intuitive experience without needing to upgrade network infrastructure.
At the heart of the GVN-HC-TX220AP is a primary USB-C input that can carry video, USB 2.0 data, 2x2 channel audio, and Ethernet over a single connection, while also supporting up to 100 W Power Delivery when the unit is powered by an external PSU. For rooms that still need a second input, a secondary host path combines HDMI 2.0 with a USB-C link for USB 2.0 data, 2x2 channel audio, and Ethernet, practically supporting two local hosts while keeping the user experience straightforward.
The device is designed to keep meetings moving. Configurable auto-select can switch between the USB-C and HDMI host inputs based on signal presence or priority, reducing friction at the table. On the USB-C input, users can inject up to 4K60 4:4:4 video with audio, aligning with modern laptop outputs and high-quality presentation requirements.
Performance and deployment flexibility remain central to the Gemini GVN approach. The GVN-HC-TX220AP delivers 4K60 at 3ms latency, supporting responsive presentation and switching experiences. For network connectivity, it offers dual RJ45 ports and an SFP cage, supporting copper (CAT) and fibre-based installations.
Alongside USB over IP - ideal for HID devices, webcams, microphones and speakerphones - the unit also features a native bidirectional USB audio (UAC) interface on both host inputs (with one active at a time). For local monitoring, the transmitter includes an uncompressed HDMI 2.0 loop-out for mirrored preview and a stereo analogue audio port with selectable input or output operation.
For projects that require professional audio over IP, Lightware also offers the GVN-HC-TX220AP-DNT variant. It adds 2-channel bidirectional Dante capability, enabling flexible audio routing between HDMI, analogue, USB and Dante networks.
The transmitter integrates with the GVN Matrix Management Unit (MMU) for auto-discovery, centralised configuration, EDID management and monitoring. It can be powered via PoE/PoE+ for simplified installations.
"With the GVN-HC-TX220AP, we are extending Gemini GVN to meet the reality of USB-C-first collaboration, bringing full-featured USB-C together with low-latency 1G AV-over-IP."
- says Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware.

Staying Green with Gemini
Operating on a 1Gb Ethernet network, the Gemini GVN boasts low-power consumption (~10W), reducing energy costs and environmental impact. Additionally, our commitment to sustainability extends to our packaging, which is made from paper-based materials, further minimizing our ecological footprint.
